Football Drill for Offensive Linemen: Stance and Start

This drill improves stance, balance, and controlled first-step movement.

Instructions: Begin in either a three-point or two-point stance with feet shoulder width, inside foot up, and back foot staggered heel-to-instep. Bend at the knees and hips with chest up and eyes forward. In the three-point stance, place the down hand under the shoulder and reach just enough to balance, keeping the off hand ready outside the knee. On command, take a short, controlled first step and be prepared to move forward, left, right, or back without tipping your direction. Reset your base and repeat with clean, disciplined movement every rep.

Reps: 3–4 sets x 5 reps
